First Club Night – Thursday 30th March

Our first Club Night and Season Launch is being held at the Newman Sports Complex on Thursday 30th March. With Round 1 for our Promotion 1 Men on Sunday 2nd April our Senior Coach Mark Sandhu will be announcing the line up for the first game and presenting the players with their numbered playing shirts. Both Mark and our Head Women’s Coach Tim Dingley will announce their Captains and Leadership teams for the 2017 Season.

From 7.00pm onwards the Committee will be providing food, and for $5 you can enjoy anything from a bowl of pasta to paella plus the bar will be open. The Club now offers EFTPOS facilities for all purchases over $10 . WE will have uniforms on sale and there will also be Mouthguard fittings from 4.00pm to 7.00pm. This is a whole club evening and we look forward to seeing plenty of our Senior Players down at the club, along with Juniors, and their parents.

Junior Clinic – Saturday 25 March 4.00pm – 5.00pm

Our Junior Clinic will be on Saturday 25th March from 4.00pm to 5.00pm at Hale Turf, followed by a sausage sizzle. We will ask every player to pay $5 towards the cost of the turf hire and post clinic refuelling.

We are pleased to have our two Senior Coaches, Mark Sandhu and Tim Dingley on board for the clinic, plus our Junior coaches as well.

We have listened to the feedback from some of the older Juniors and have decided to split the session into two halves, so that the J9/10 and J11/12 players will be on one half of the turf whilst our younger players are on the other half. Tim will also assist with some specialist goal keeping drills for our aspiring goalies. Please let your coaches know if you are coming, and bring your stick,mouthguard and water bottle. Be there at 3.45pm so we can sort out the groups and be ready to hit the turf at 4.00pm.

Registration Day – Saturday 11th February 2017

Registration for Juniors and Seniors is this Saturday 11th February at the club rooms from 8.30am –11.30am.

Registration this year needs to be completed online by following this link;
or for Juniors

Should you wish to pay cash or cheque please complete and print your form then bring your completed registration form to the club rooms this Saturday. Alternatively enter your credit card details on line and the club will contact you to arrange to debit the payment .

Feel free to come down to the club rooms on Saturday should you have any questions or if you wish to purchase uniforms, which will be available for sale on the day. Please note that the club uniform is compulsory for all juniors playing in J5/6 and above, and there is also a range of other uniform items for sale including beanies, hoodies, training shirts, jackets and umbrellas!

Mouth-guards are also compulsory for all players and a mouth-guard fitting day will be arranged for a date to be set in March stay tuned for further details. ( Claimable on most health funds and professionally fitted for every individual even those with braces etc)

For Seniors and Masters players it is important that you register ASAP to determine which teams we can register for the 2017 season. The Senior season begins for most teams on 8/9 April, the week before Easter, though Promotion 1 Men start on 1/2 April.

Juniors begin 28/29/30 April, and once registration is complete Junior coaches and managers will be contacted with team lists and they will then be in touch with training schedules for your team.

Please be advised that the Annual General Meeting of the Newman Knights Hockey Club will be held on Sunday 27 November 2016 at 4:30pm at the Newman Clubrooms in Tuscany Way, Churchlands.

The Agenda for the AGM can be found at the bottom of this notice.

If you are unable to attend in person, please complete the Appointment of a Proxy Form, also at the bottom of this notice.

Bring your family and friends, as after the AGM the club will provide a sausage sizzle!

Junior Club Night will kick off at 4.30pm with a special medal presentation to our J1/2 and J3/4 players. Food will be provided from 5.00pm onwards for all Junior players and parents, cost $5 per head.

Quiz Night – Saturday 20th August

The Quiz Night is only a week away so it’s time to get our thinking caps on!

Table bookings have been slow to start but hopefully you will do a Kyle Chalmers and make a late surge to the finish.  All you have to do is get together a group of trivial personalities and book your table. Remember it’s Olympics themed so there’s bound to be someone who wants to wear their budgie smugglers or lycra, and that’s always entertaining.

So don’t delay – contact Sue Tully on 0407 016 286 or and book a table. Tables of 8 @ $15 per head, doors open @7.00pm and first questions @ 7.30pm

Every team, from Juniors through to Masters also needs to provide some prizes to help make the night even more fun.  Ashe Egglestone has kindly offered to coordinate this so any questions direct them to her but each team needs to provide:

  • Prizes – worth either 1 x $120 or 2 x $60 .  If your team mates are going to make up a hamper please pick a theme, so “kids” or “gone fishing” or “mother’s rescue remedy”  – whatever.
  • A minimum of 4 x $15 bottles of wine from each team. If people would like to donate from their cellar and we get more than 4 per team then great!! This is for the Wine Wall. We will still sell tickets for $10, and then it’s lucky dip – you could get a bottle of Grange if there’s someone very generous in the club
  • Additionally we are looking for extra special donations, for the table prizes on the night and to cover the premium raffle, where we sell a limited number of tickets. So if you have connections in the hospitality field or own a timeshare in Busselton or Bali, or can offer a unique experience… Any are welcome and we can provide you with a letter if you need it to twist someone’s arm that this is for a genuinely good cause.
